What’s your favorite Bible verse and why does it speak to you?

My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 139:13-14. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” I love this verse because it shows me that God made me for a reason and that I am special to him.

What’s your favorite way to spend a Sunday after church?

After church most Sundays, we meet up with family and go eat together at a restaurant.

What’s a worship song you can’t help but sing along to?

I always like to sing along with “Trust in God”. It’s so good to know that He will never fail, leave, or forsake us!

What’s a moment at CCA when you really felt God at work?

When I first came to CCA sixteen years ago, I had come from a challenging environment in a previous school. I was questioning if I was even cut out to be a teacher. In the first week of teacher’s meetings, the principal told us that God had brought us there and that we were not there by accident. It validated my being at CCA and continuing to be a teacher. I have had so many fulfilling moments as a teacher at CCA through the years. I am thankful that God turned something difficult into something beautiful.

What’s a hymn or worship song that always lifts your spirit?

Eyes locked on the king by Abbie Gamboa & UPPERROOM! It’s such a sweet reminder of Who we live for and to stop and look at Him.

What’s your favorite Bible story, and why?

Mary & Martha. Jesus tells us there is a time to serve and a time to sit at His feet. As humans we constantly stay busy and then feel overwhelmed. We do not want to miss out on Jesus when He is in the room with us because we are too worried about everyday tasks. Take time to sit at His feet!

What’s your prayer for your students this year?

That they all know they are loved and seen & can ask the hard questions. I will always be open to any conversation, especially about Jesus and our faith!

Tell us about your family. How do you all grow in faith together?

I have an 8 year old daughter, Mia, who asked Jesus into her heart right here at CCA. I’ve been on staff at our church since 2019 so she has grown up watching me serve in multiple areas. Sunday morning kids, youth group, summer camps. I try to show her how to honor the Lord with our time and talents and to show others the love of Jesus. Being a single mom can be stressful at times but we give each other a lot of grace and forgiveness just as Christ does.
