What’s a hymn or worship song that always lifts your spirit?
I love the song In Christ Alone. The words are a great reminder that my hope and joy are in Him and His salvation is a beautiful gift that I can’t earn. The tune is very “singable” and great for singing harmony, which I love!
What’s your favorite Bible verse and why does it speak to you?
I love the BIble verse, 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
I have experienced this firsthand from the Lord during the most difficult time in my life. I am so grateful to serve a God who knows and understands our deepest needs.
Tell us about your family. How do you all grow in faith together?
I am grateful for my terrific husband, who leads our family well; our children and their spouses and our four precious grandchildren, who are such fun. We have had a great opportunity to trust God and strengthen our prayer life as our granddaughter has faced health challenges this year.
We have a big labradoodle named Mowgli, too. He’s my walking buddy.

What is your favorite way to spend Sunday after church?
Sundays are chill days for my husband and myself. We go to church in Crowley. After service, we usually go eat in Fort Worth. In the summer, we will go swimming. When it’s colder outside, I will read or sometimes take a nap.
What’s one truth from Scripture you hope your students carry with them long after they leave my class?
That they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God loved them and chose them for a specific purpose. John 15:16
Tell us about your family
Tommy and I have been married almost 47 years. We raised our three children in church and the two of us used to take Tommy’s one week vacation and take our church’s 2nd-6th graders to Riverbend every year. I served at VBS and Children’s Church for many years. My daughter has carried on that same tradition with my three youngest Grands!
